About the Author
Lachlan Mitchell worked as a Mental Health Professional for 20 years and it was during this time he specialized in treatment of alcohol addiction. He was struck by the lack of help generally available to families, but knew from experience that many of the most effective treatments can be done by lay people, and the biggest changes came when ordinary people were shown how a simple change in attitude, or learning how to relax, or not blaming oneself for the actions of a partner, or many other simple changes gave hope and relief to a family in crisis. After leaving the health service, Lachlan wrote this small book, knowing that anyone who uses the ideas will get a result - will feel better, a little lighter. His hope is that many people will read and benefit from his work and his 50 years of experience.

Un estupendo libro si se quieren comprender los cambios que se est�n produciendo en Chile.

Un estupendo libro que muestra lo que hab�a tras bambalinas en la toma de la Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad de Chile y el movimiento estudiantil. Razones muy diferentes a los ideales y valores altruistas que dec�an tener. Expone con fundamentos la hipocres�a y el oportunismo de los "iluminados" que quieren transformar completamente el pa�s para convertirlo en .... Nadie lo sabe. Me gust� la descripci�n que hace de varios personajes ligados al movimiento estudiantil especialmente de Fernando Atria - que habla "bonito" pero no dice nada - y Gabriel Boric - un oportunista de tomo y lomo que incluso fue procesado como "mechero" el robar en un supermercado de Punta Arenas. En los peque�os actos se conoce a las personas.

A trav�s de este libro tambi�n se puede entender mejor lo que est� pasando en Chile, un pa�s que estuvo cerca de alcanzar el desarrollo y que ahora est� en decadencia debido a la mediocridad, estupidez e ingenuidad de sus habitantes al elegir gobiernos populistas e incapaces. Nada nuevo bajo el sol en LA.

Alfredo JH escribe de manera entretenida de asuntos importantes que son el telon de fondo de nuestra mediocridad con un cierto humor que permite reflexionar y que podamos hacer de Chile un pais mejor. Donde la honestidad, el respeto de las normas y la transparencia sean importantes.
Al leer la toma de entiende gran parte de la crisis que vive Chile. Una crisis de elite mediocre y de nadie sabe para quien trabaja.

Born into a family of medicine people, he was chosen at birth to carry on the tradition. He shares his memories here about his childhood training and initiation as a medicine man as well as his remembrances about his father and grandmother, who trained him. Lewis reveals part of the sacred story of the origin of plants and he identifies some of the plants he uses in his cures. He also describes several of the ceremonies his teachers taught him, stressing throughout the sacredness and importance of Mvskoke medicine.

Ann T. Jordan, a Euroamerican anthropologist, documents the place of Lewis's medicine family in the written record. Lewis is the great grandson of Jackson Lewis, who was interviewed in 1910 by anthropologist John Swanton. This is an excellent offering on not only the medicine, but on the Mvskoke Peoples as well. "Creek Indian Medicine Ways" offers up the medicine of David Lewis, Jr, whose Great Grandfather was the subject of reports authored by John Swanton in the 1920's, giving this volume a long related heritage & place in Mvskoke history. This history is given here, with the coauthor's father & Great Grandmother & Great Grandfather all playing parts in the practice & preservation of the Sacred Medicine Ways.

Coauthor Ann T Jordan reports the history accurately, while also maintaining a high readability factor. Her work is immeasurable, & she relinquishes, & allows the current Medicine Person ( D.L. Jr.) to have his voice heard in the telling of his story, documenting his path along the Sacred Medicine Ways. Perhaps my favorite part is his encounter with the Little People, an integral step along his way. " C. I. M. W." is a complete volume that covers many aspects of Mvskoke history & lifeways, & surely must be the definitive source on the subject. HIGHLY Recommended !!!

I really liked this book

I thought this was a good book. My son who is more educated in Creek Indian culture differs in opinion. He felt that it wasn't authentic enough. My personal feelings are that it held plenty of knowledge for my interest level. It was a quick and fun read. I leave it in the guest room for visitors to browse. I had a few visitors who have stayed up too late because they got caught up in reading it. I would classify this as a book that might get you interested in knowing more. The author doesn't claim to be the last and only expert in this area.

Could be better.

This a good primer. Presents lots of basic information.

HOWEVER, it really does need more "X"s and "O"s when setting out the descriptions of the locations of the players, but especially when describing offensive and defensive formations. The "X"s and "O" would clarify the description.
